The pediatrician

At the American Hospital of Paris maternity unit, the pediatric team’s goal is to watch over your baby before, during and after the birth.
To watch over your baby means ensuring every aspect of her safety and preparing you to fulfill this role at home, while remaining available to assist you if need be. It is essential to bear in mind that an infant’s safety is not just physical. The emotional well-being of newborns, whose brains are constantly developing, is equally crucial.

Visits from the pediatrician to examine your baby are systematic and mandatory.

Two visits are mandatory during your maternity stay. The pediatrician may also be called in the event of an emergency, during or after the birth.

A team of three pediatricians is on call 24/7.

The pediatrician takes care of your baby until you leave the hospital and makes sure she is in good health. Every day, the pediatrician on duty will record information about your baby’s development. They also might handle any medical issues that arise, and will answer all of your questions. They will start to fill out your baby's health record booklet, which will be given to you when you leave the hospital. This booklet, along with a discharge letter from the pediatrician, will be used to inform the pediatrician or family practitioner you choose for your baby’s routine monthly check-ups.

Our team of pediatricians is available to answer any questions you may have.

They can also perform your baby’s routine check-ups through our external consultation program.
